Are you suffering from Paralysis?
Paralysis Causes, Symptoms and Ayurvedic Treatment

What is Paralysis?
Paralysis refers to the loss of the ability to move and control muscles, typically affecting one or more parts of the body. It can result from damage to the brain or spinal cord, disrupting the neural signals that are required for voluntary muscle movement. The severity and extent of paralysis can vary, ranging from partial weakness to complete immobility.
Paralysis - Symptoms
The symptoms of paralysis depend on the location and severity of the nerve damage. Common symptoms include:
- Loss of movement:
The most obvious symptom is the inability to move one or more parts of the body.
- Muscle weakness:
Even if the person retains some movement, muscles may feel weak or exhausted.
- Loss of sensation:
Affected areas may feel numb or experience abnormal sensations (e.g., tingling, itching).
- Pain:
Nerve damage can result in nerve pain or discomfort, especially if the paralysis is due to trauma.
- Difficulty with body functions:
Depending on the location of the paralysis, issues with bladder, bowel, and respiratory functions may occur.
- Spasms or involuntary movements:
Some people may experience muscle spasms or uncontrolled movements.
- Speech or swallowing difficulties:
If the brain or nerves controlling facial muscles or the throat are affected, this can result in speech problems or difficulty swallowing.
Paralysis - Causes
- Stroke:
A stroke occurs when there is a blockage or rupture in a blood vessel supplying the brain, leading to loss of function in the affected area.
- Trauma or Injury:
Severe physical injuries such as spinal cord injuries (e.g., from accidents) can damage the nerves, leading to paralysis.
- Neurological Diseases:
Conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Guillain-Barré syndrome, and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) can cause paralysis by attacking the nervous system.
- Infections:
Polio, a viral infection that affects the spinal cord, can result in partial or total paralysis. Infections like meningitis or encephalitis that affect the brain or spinal cord can also cause paralysis.
- Tumors:
Tumors in the brain or spinal cord can press on the nerves or brain structures, leading to paralysis.
- Autoimmune Disorders:
Conditions like myasthenia gravis and Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) can impair the transmission of nerve signals, resulting in paralysis.
- Congenital Disorders:
Some people are born with conditions like cerebral palsy, which causes long-term motor impairments.
- Metabolic Disorders:
Disorders such as diabetes can lead to nerve damage (neuropathy) and paralysis if not managed properly.
- Toxins and Drugs:
Certain toxins (e.g., snake venom) or drugs (e.g., heavy alcohol use) can lead to paralysis.
